How the game works

Reviews describe a 5-reel, 4-row grid paying on 14 fixed lines, small numbers for a modern slot, because the action is not in the paytable but in what the reels turn into. Hacksaw’s own launch notes call the engine “expanding reel features” and compare its blueprint to Dork Unit and R.I.P. City.

The base-game engine is the Hand of Surtur, a symbol that rips downward and turns its reel into a Portal to Muspelheim, a full-height wild. Reviews note the catch: the hand only activates if the resulting Portal takes part in a win, so it is not a free wild reel on every appearance. Surtur’s Vengeance and Warriors of the Storm

Three Surtur scatters open Surtur’s Vengeance, the fire bonus: reviews report 10 free spins for three scatters, 12 for four, 14 for five, where the first wild to land on each reel becomes sticky until the end of the round, one per reel, and any wilds on screen at the trigger are carried in. With the Hand of Surtur still ripping Portals over a board of sticky wilds, this is the mode built for multiplier chains.

The second mode has its own scatter symbol. Three Viking scatters open Warriors of the Storm, the ice bonus, on the same reported 10-to-14-spin scale. The Hammer of Thor forges its reel into a Storm Reel, a full wild reel that persists for the rest of the bonus. Hacksaw’s own volatility meter gives Stormforged 4 out of 5, one notch below Hand of Anubis, which carries the studio’s full 5, and the reported 12,500x cap is the studio’s standard ceiling, not a special one. One review database’s simulation of more than 25 million spins is reported to have peaked around 10,058x without ever touching the cap, with a bonus landing roughly once per 282 spins. If you want the genuinely deranged end of this genre, Tombstone RIP carries its studio’s Insane label and a 300,000x cap at published odds of 1 in 130 million. Review databases list four RTP builds: 96.41% (default), 94.28%, 92.35% and 88.46%. Hacksaw’s site carries Stormforged in its catalogue but gives it no game page, and we found no studio-published RTP for it anywhere on Hacksaw’s domain, so treat every figure as reported, not official.
